Draw for 2007 U.20 Men's FIFA World Cup

The pools were drawn in Toronto for the 2007 Under 20 Men's FIFA World Cup.   Host nation Canada will open by playing Chile on Canada Day (July 1) in Toronto.

2007 FIFA World U.20 Draw

The 2007 FIFA World Youth Championships for Men are coming to Canada this year.  Twenty-four under-20 teams have qualified for the tournament and the pools will be determined tomorrow (March 3rd). 

Six cities in Canada will host the soccer games - Victoria, Burnaby, Edmonton, Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal - in Canada 2007, which opens on June 30th.  Defending champion Argentina has qualified and will be one of many teams vying to lift the trophy on July 22nd.

World Cup Soccer - Italy advances to Finals

Italy will be in the World Cup finals for the first time since 1994, which they lost to Brazil.  It looked like penalty kicks would be needed to decide this World Cup match but Italy managed to score in the 28th and 30th minute of overtime.

Germany 2006 Semi-finals set

The match-ups for the World Cup semi-finals in Germany 2006 were decided after play finished on July 1st, 2006.  Germany will play Italy while Portugal plays France.  Wait - where's Brazil?

World Cup Soccer - Germany advance to semifinals

If the first quarter-final game of the Soccer World Cup is any indication of what is to come, soccer fans around the world are in for a treat.  Germany needed overtime and penalty kicks to beat Argentina and advance to the semi-finals of Germany 2006.

Germany 2006 - Quarterfinal Preview

Germany, Portugal and Brazil are the only undefeated teams to reach the quarter-finals of Germany 2006.  A team from each of the eight initial groups remains in contention for the World Cup title.  Six of the eight teams won their group while two placed second. 

World Cup Soccer - Brazil and France advance

With a 3-0 win over Ghana, Brazil advances to the quarter-final round of Germany 2006.  France scored two goals in the second half to best Spain 3-1 to advance in World Cup Soccer play.

Germany 2006 - Italy and Ukraine advance

Italy converted a penalty kick in the dying seconds of the game to edge Australia 1-0 in World Cup soccer action today.  The Ukraine and Switzerland game went to kicks after the teams remained tied after 120 minutes of play in Germany 2006.

Germany 2006 - England and Portugal win

Round of 16 play continued in Germany 2006 with two very different football matches.  In a game that would later seem subdued, England edged Costa Rica 1-0.  In the second soccer game of the day Portugal edged the Netherlands 1-0 in a fiery game that included 16 cautions, four expulsions, and a heat butt.

The first Round of 16 matches were played in World Cup Soccer in Germany 2006.  The Germans dominated Sweden in game one while Argentina needed overtime to edge Mexico in the other match.
